ode to a crockpot

there is nothing quite like getting to the end of a long work day and knowing dinner is waiting for you, warm and ready to eat, at home. i'm not really going to write an ode. i'm too tired. but if i were a poetically inclined individual that is what i'd do.

so instead i will leave you with this:

Paean to My Crock Pot (For Eileen)
Oh Crock Pot--
how I love your 70s sensibility.
You stay home all day dressed
in floral charm, serve me
dinner with a warmth
free from post feminist irony
or messy cleanups.

Crockpots are indeed wonderful. Why don't I remember to use mine more frequently?

you will have to share with me some of your recipes. I tend to burn everything I cook in them. I don't think mine likes me.
